Risky monkey business
Researchers found samango monkeys forage closer to the ground (more risky) when human researchers are present. The monkeys recognize that when human researchers are around, ground predators such as leopards are not, and therefore engage in more risky foraging behavior. Full study here (subscription required).
Milkweeds for Monarchs
Monarch butterflies make a multi-year /multi-generation migration across North America but their habitat is disappearing. Planting milkweed would provide habitat for larvae and may facilitate the migration and species persistence.
